Meet the Maker

Growing up tending a large garden with her great grandmother, founder, Nicole Mattingly always had a passion for plants. In 2010, she embarked on her urban farming journey growing countless plants, including veggies, herbs, flowers, and mushrooms. Studying herbalism and creating potions for her family was her ever growing hobby, and in 2014, Stomping Ground Herbals was born. Growing many of the plants for he skincare line and creating everything by hand, a decade long business was born. In 2023, she closed her business to focus on her mental and physical health. She opened her next business, Reliquary Perfume in the fall of 2024. After getting it up and running, and after countless emails requesting her to re-open Stomping Ground, she re-opened March 1, 2025. She describes the two shops as Enid (Stomping Ground Herbals) and Wednesday (Reliquary Perfume), summing up her personality perfectly. In her spare time you can find her watching scary movies, building miniatures, studying folklore, cooking, and spending time with her dogs and husband.

Stomping Ground Herbals and Reliquary Perfume are run out of Nicole's solar powered studio on her Nashville, TN homestead.
